Corrections

If something on this site is factually wrong, tell us. Include the page, the passage and, where you can, the source that shows the error. Corrections are made promptly and noted on the page with a date.

We are particularly interested in hearing about anything that reads as encouragement to have surgery, because that would be a failure of our own standard rather than a matter of taste.

Editorial

Suggestions for subjects we have not covered, points of clinical accuracy from practitioners, and questions about our sourcing.

We do not accept guest articles, contributed content or provider-supplied material of any kind, and we do not respond to public relations approaches on behalf of clinics.

Commercial and the register

Newsletter sponsorship and applications to the register. Rates, formats and the list of what we refuse at any price are published at commercial terms. Please read that page before writing, because it answers most enquiries and rules out most others.

Register applications must come from the surgeon personally rather than from a clinic, an agency or a marketing representative.

What we cannot help with

Clinical questions. We cannot tell you whether a procedure is suitable for you, interpret a symptom, review a photograph or comment on a plan you have been offered. That requires a doctor who can examine you.

Recommendations. We do not name, rank or recommend surgeons, clinics or hospitals, and we will not do so privately either. If you write asking who to see, we will point you at how to check a surgeon yourself.

Complaints about a provider. We are not a regulator and cannot investigate. Complaints about a doctor go to the General Medical Council, complaints about a facility to its regulator, and complaints about advertising to the Advertising Standards Authority.

If something is wrong now

If you have had surgery and are unwell, do not write to a website. Contact the provider who operated on you. If you cannot reach them, contact your GP or NHS 111. If you have chest pain, breathlessness, are coughing blood, have collapsed, or have a hot swollen painful leg, call 999 or attend an emergency department immediately.

We email when a procedure record is revised or when UK regulatory guidance changes.
