Commercial terms and rate card

The full revenue model: a labelled newsletter sponsor line, a factual listing tier, the rates for both, and the list of what we refuse at any price.

Surgical atlas study.

The model, stated plainly

This publication has two revenue lines and no others. Both are described here in full, including their prices, because a commercial model that cannot be published is a commercial model that should not exist.

Neither line touches editorial. No payment buys a mention, a position, a link, an emphasis, a delay or a removal. The list of what we refuse at any price is at the bottom of this page and it is not negotiable.

Our newsletter carries one sponsor line per issue. It appears in a bordered block labelled SPONSOR, in different type from the editorial, at a fixed position after the editorial content rather than within it.

ItemDetail
FormatOne block, up to 45 words, one link, one line of advertiser identification
PositionAfter all editorial content, never between articles, never in the header
LabellingBordered, headed SPONSOR, in the label typeface, never styled as editorial
Rate£450 per issue, or £1,600 for four consecutive issues
FrequencyMaximum one sponsor per issue. No exceptions and no second slot at any price.
Copy approvalWe write nothing for the sponsor and we edit only for the labelling rules and the refusals below
Editorial influenceNone. Sponsors see the issue when subscribers do.

A sponsor is never mentioned in editorial, never linked from an article, and never given a right of reply, a preview or advance notice of coverage.

2. A paid listing tier, restricted to verifiable facts

The register is a directory with an unusual restriction: an entry may contain only facts that a reader can independently verify against a public register or a regulator. Nothing else may appear, at any price.

ItemDetail
Permitted fieldsSurgeon name as recorded on the GMC register; GMC reference number; specialty as recorded on the specialist register; date of entry to the specialist register; RCS England cosmetic surgery certification where held, and in which areas; regulator registration of the premises, with the registration reference; the regulator's most recent published overall rating where one exists; association membership where verifiable at source
ProhibitedProse, marketing copy, adjectives, photographs, before-and-after images, prices, offers, claims, patient testimonials, star ratings, awards, technique names, brand names
OrderAlphabetical by surname. Always. There is no premium position, no featured tier and no way to be listed higher.
VerificationEvery field is checked by us against the relevant public register before publication and re-checked annually. A field we cannot verify is not published.
Rate£240 per surgeon per year. One price, no tiers.
RemovalAn entry is removed immediately and without refund if any field becomes inaccurate, if registration lapses, or if a restriction is recorded on the GMC entry
Editorial effectNone. A listing does not produce editorial mention and cannot be referenced in an article.

Because entries contain only register facts, the register cannot function as a recommendation and is not one. It is a convenience that saves a reader from doing the same lookups themselves, and it says nothing at all about whether any listed surgeon is right for them. See the register.

What we refuse, at any price

The following have been offered to publications in this sector and are refused here without negotiation.

  • Lead generation of any kind. No enquiry forms, no callbacks, no contact details passed to a provider, no commission on a booking, no referral fee. The reasoning is at about.
  • Any ranking, league table, best-of list or comparison of providers. At any price, for any reason, including a ranking based on criteria we would be paid to define.
  • Sponsored, advertorial or provider-supplied articles, however labelled.
  • Editorial links to providers. The one link on this site was placed editorially before any commercial relationship existed and is disclosed on its own page.
  • Payment to be quoted, mentioned, cited or described.
  • Payment to remove or soften accurate material. We will also disclose that such a request was made if we are asked.
  • Advance sight of articles by any provider, association or advertiser.
  • Advertising for surgical procedures, including in the newsletter sponsor slot.
  • Any promotion of surgery abroad, packages, medical travel or treatment bundles.
  • Any promotion of finance, credit or payment plans for cosmetic surgery.
  • Time-limited offers, discounts or promotional pricing in any commercial slot on this site.
  • Affiliate links of any description.
  • Display advertising and programmatic advertising.
  • Advertising or listings from unregistered premises or from anyone not on the GMC register.

Why publish the rate card at all

Because a reader assessing whether to trust a publication in this market needs to know how it is paid, and a vague statement about supporting independent journalism is not an answer.

Publishing the rates, the formats and the refusals means the model can be checked against what appears on the site. If you ever see something here that contradicts this page, it is a breach of our own policy and we would like to hear about it at contact.

Commercial enquiries

Enquiries about either line go through the contact page and are handled by the commercial side of Northbank Media, which has no editorial role. Editorial staff are not told who has bought a sponsor line or a listing.

No commercial links on this page

This article contains no affiliate links, no sponsored placement and no link to any clinic, hospital, surgeon, brand or commercial provider. Nobody paid for it, nobody previewed it and nobody outside the editorial team saw it before publication.

We name no surgeon, clinic or hospital anywhere in editorial, and we operate no lead generation into surgical procedures. Our commercial model is published in full, including the list of what we refuse at any price, at commercial terms.

Nothing here is medical advice, and nothing here is intended to encourage an operation. Speak to a doctor who has examined you, and to your GP.

Follow the record

We email when a procedure record is revised or when UK regulatory guidance changes.

Infrequent. No promotions, no clinic marketing and no provider content. One labelled sponsor block per issue, described in full at commercial terms. Sponsors receive no subscriber data and have no editorial influence.
